Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reliably detect whether a delivered bank note is one or not, by a method wherein the apparant length of the bank note is measured by photoelectric sensors, and a total value of the degree of transmitted light is determined. CONSTITUTION:A bank note 10 is delivered through a gap between plural notes passage preventing rollers 43 and 44 belonging to a delivery mechanism 40, and the bank note passes between a conveyance belt 96, wound around a delivery roller 91, and press roller for downward conveyance. Photoelectric sensors PHS1 and PHS2 are situated in two spots on a line where the delivery roller 91 is brought into contact with the delivered bank note 10. The sensor PHS1 works as a photoelectric switch, and the sensor PHS2 measures an apparant length. Further, the sensor PHS1 measures the degree of transmitted light at intervals of a given distance from the front edge of the bank note 10 to determine a total value. From the fact that the apparant length and the total value of the degree of transmitted light are both within a given range, it is detected that the bank note is one in number.
