Supercharging device for internal combustion engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the torque in a low speed operation and improve the acceleration response property, by connecting a supercharger driven by an exhaust gas turbine through a clutch to the other driving source, and operating the clutch in a low speed rotation. CONSTITUTION:A compressor 1 combined to an exhaust gas turbine is connected to a DC motor 5 and a speed multiplier 66 through a clutch 7. Pressure sensors 9 and 10 are furnished at the upper and the lower stream sides of a throttle valve in an intake passage 2, and their detected signals are input to a control unit 8. When it is decided that a specific supercharging pressure is not obtained in a low speed area, the control unit 8 operates a clutch control actuator 7a to drive the compressor 1 forcibly by a motor 5. Therefore, a sufficient supercharging pressure can be obtained to prevent the torque decrease even in a low speed area.
