Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To highly concentrate tracks without a special servo signal by providing a track servo mechanism employing the difference signal of reproduction outputs of a magnetic head where one track is bisected in the track width direction and a read circuit using a sum signal. CONSTITUTION:When windings 3 and 4 are installed on magnetic cores 1 and 2 are a write current is flowed in coils 3 and 4, magnetizations 6 and 7 in the same direction are caused on a magnetic medium 9. When a track is in the state of off-track by DELTAT at reproduction, in case of the figure, the core 1 is positioned at approximately entire magnitizations 6 and 7 of all track width, whereas some part of the core 2 is positioned in a non-magnetized area. As a result, the output of the coil 3 differs from that of the coil 4, whereby the servo mechanism can be equipped so as to make the output difference zero. The cores 1 and 2 are driven and controlled to adjust the off-track, and therefore sum signals of the coils 3 and 4 can be taken out as reproduction data. Thus, the highly concentrated tracks without using a special servo signal are obtained.
