Boundary level gauge

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy with a simple constitution by detecting the liquid surfaces of the boundaries between different kinds of liquids from the optical difference of the liquids. CONSTITUTION:A fitting structure 28 formed by a transparent polarizing material is arranged oppositely to the different kinds, e.g. 1st-4th, of liquids 30-33 stored along the wall surface of a tank, a light radiating heating wire 35 connected to a battery 34 e.g. is connected to one end of the structure 28 and the 1st-4th band-like photoelectric elements 36a-36d are arranged in parallel with prescribed intervals on the other end part. A diaphragm 38 for interrupting the direct incidence of light projected from the heating wire 35 upon the 1st-4th photoelectric elements 36a-36d is arranged on the intermediate part of the fitting structure 28. The outputs of the 1st-4th photoelectric elements 36a-36d and the characteristic data of the 1st-4th liquids 30-33 are inputted to a computer 40 and the liquid surfaces of respective boundaries are displayed on a display device 42.
