Accelerator control device in vehicle internal combustion engine

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to self-travel even if a control system including a throttle valve drive means is abnormal, by returning a throttle valve to its full close position when an abnormality in the control system is detected, and by controlling an auxiliary air passage bypassing the throttle valve to open the passage. CONSTITUTION:In an accelerator control device for a vehicle internal combustion engine, a control signal generating means B issues a control signal for the open degree of a throttle valve 9 in accordance with the output of an accelerator pedal displacement detecting means A, and a throttle drive means C opens and closes the throttle valve 9 in accordance with the control signal. In this case, there is provided an abnormal detecting means D for detecting an abnormality in at least a part of the above- mentioned control device, and upon detection of an abnormality a throttle valve full- close position returning means E allows the throttle valve 9 to return to its full close position. Further, an auxiliary air bypass passage 18 is provided for bypassing the throttle valve 9, and an auxiliary air control valve 19 is disposed in the passage 18. Further, upon detection of the above-mentioned abnormality a drive means F is controlled to shift the auxiliary air control valve 19 in the direction in which the flow rate of auxiliary air increases.
