Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To control copying operation by inserting an IC card which has a subtraction type counter function into the copying machine and inputting a correct password number, and allowing the copying operation unless the contents of a counter are (0) and stopping the counting operation when the counter counts down to (0). CONSTITUTION:The card 1 which incorporates an IC2 having a subtracting function is inserted into an insertion part 4 and its input/output terminal 3 is connected to a cnnection part 5. When a password and the quantity of copies to be taken are inputted at an operation part 6, the numeral (8) of the counter of the card 1 is read under the command of a control part 7 and when the password is correct, a copying part 9 is instructed to take a copy. When the numeral (8) of the counter decreases to (0), the copying operation is stopped and a speech is synthesized 19 to annunciate that the copying operation is impossible through a speaker 20. Consequently, the quantity of copies is controlled by departments or individuals to prevent an abuse of copying and control the estimate of copying accurately.
