Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce uncomfortable vibration of a car body in stopping the car by holding the speed change stage at the high speed stage when an engine is in idling and wheels are braked in stopping the car. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of a shift detecting means G, turbine rotational speed detecting means H, idling detecting means I and brake detecting means J are supplied to the input of a controlling means K for controlling a speed change changing-over means D. In stopping a vehicle when an engine is in idling and wheels are braked, the speed change stage is held at the high speed stage continuously after turbine rotational speed is lowered to a predetermined value or less. Thus, the transmission of idling vibration of the engine to the vehicle in stopping the vehicle is reduced and when the brake is released for starting said mechanism is changed over to the first speed to permit smooth start utilizing a creep phenomenon.
