Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make the image by long-time printing sharp by preventing contamination, by providing a heat accumulation layer, a conductor, a heat generating resistor and a protective layer onto a ceramic substrate and protruding the paper part delivery side of the heat generating resistor as compared with the part feed side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head is formed by laminating a heat accumulating under glaze layer 2, a conductor 3, a heat generating resistor 4 and a protective layer 5 on a ceramic substrate 1 and further providing a head contamination preventing layer 6 which is protruded in the paper delivery side of the heat generating resistor 4 as compared with the paper feed side thereof, to said protective layer 5. The material quality of the head contamination preventing layer 6 is not especially limited but a metal material also containing an alloy, a ceramic material such as aluminum oxide, silicon oxide, chrominum oxide or tantalum oxide or a polymer material are used. Furthermore, the conductor 3, the heat generating resistor 4 and the protective layer 5 may be provided after the ceramic substrate 1 and the heat accumulating under glaze layer 2 are preliminarily shaped in a protruded shape in the paper delivery side of the heat generating resistor 4.
