Manufacture of magnetic head

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To maintain a satisfactorily lapped surface, by putting a pushing-in jig on a lapping tape and running the lapping tape in the same direction as the running direction of a recording medium under a condition where the lapping tape is pushed into concave parts on the recording medium sliding surface of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:Pushing-in plates 7t, 81t, 82t, 91t, and 92t are put on a lapping tape 11 and the lapping tape 11 is run in the same direction as the running direction of a recording medium, with the lapping tape 11 being pushed into each groove and wing section of the recording medium sliding surface of a magnetic head. Therefore, the lapping tape 11 is run under a condition where the lapping tape 11 is pushed into each groove and wing section of the tape sliding surface of the magnetic tape and in close contact with the surface at the front end of each pushing-in plate 7t, 81t, 82t, 91t, and 92t. As a result, the lapping treatment is performed not only on the initial recording medium sliding surface, but also on the parts which is exposed in future after the magnetic head is used. Therefore, a satisfactorily finished surface can be maintained for a long period.
