Latex pressure-sensitive adhesive
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled adhesive which has both adhesion to a curved surface and high-temperature retentivity and improved corrugated board sealing properties, consisting of a polymer having specified physical properties, composed of a (meth)acrylate ester and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith. CONSTITUTION:A latex pressure-sensitive adhesive consists of a polymer composed of 50-100pts.wt. acrylate or methacrylate ester monomer and 0-50pts.wt. ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith, whose dry film has a tensile strength of 3kg/cm<2> or below in a low elongation region, elongation at breakage of 900% or above, a gel fraction of 20-70% and a degree of swelling by weight of 8-90. Examples of the ester monomers are alkyd esters derived from acrylic or methacrylic acid and 12C or lower alcohol. Typical examples thereof are n-butyl acrylate and hexadecyl methacrylate.
