Method and device for pattern matching processing

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To execute accurately discrimination without any error regardless of variation in the lighting condition of a body to be detected, etc., by correcting a pattern as a reference of discrimination according to a pattern which is inputted actually. CONSTITUTION:A dictionary part 7 is composed of a RAM, etc., in a writable state. Further, a most frequent input pattern detection part 11 which detects an input pattern in a correlation value area wherein the generation frequency is highest is provided and an input pattern detected by the detecting part 11 is stored as a pattern in the dictionary part 7. A mean arithmetic part 10 calculates the mean value of the degree of correlation of the input pattern with the reference pattern. When the mean correlation value calculated by the mean arithmetic part 10 decreases below a specific value, a dictionary correction control part 12 operates to update the contents of the dictionary part 7.
