Catalytic combustion unit
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To preheat an oxidization catalyst uniformly and quickly by a method wherein a radiation beam having an infrared ray is radiated from a front surface of oxidization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:At first, an electric current is flowed in an infrared ray heater 12 and the infrared radiation beam is uniformly applied to the surface of an oxidization catalyst 1. When a temperature of the oxidization catalyst 1 is reached to a desired temperature, fuel gas is supplied from a fuel gas supplying pipe 17, enters the fuel gas dispersion pipe 16 and is injected into the space 14 for small holes 15. Further, the fuel gas is sufficiently dispersed by a dispersion mat 5, reached to the oxidization catalyst 1 and a low temperature catalytic combustion is carried out at this point with the secondary air supplied from the outer surface of the oxidization catalyst 1. With this arrangement, since the preheating of the oxidization catalytic body is uniformly carried from the surface, it is possible to eliminate the leakage of fuel when the catalytic combustion is started.
