Chemical deashing method for coal
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To effect the simultaneous removal of ash and sulfur from coal, by immersing powdered coal containing ash and sulfur in an aqueous solution containing nitric acid and acidic ammonium fluoride, thereby reacting the ash and sulfur with the solution. CONSTITUTION:(A) Coal containing ash and sulfur and pulverized to powder finer than 35 mesh (preferably finer than 100 mesh) on an average is immersed in (B) an aqueous solution containing (i) 1.0-20.0wt% nitric acid and (ii) 1.25- 3.5% (preferably 2.0-3.0%) acidic ammonium fluoride to effect the reaction of the ash and sulfur with the solution. After the reaction, the product is filtered, washed, and dried to obtain deashed and desulfurized coal.
