Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the comfortableness to drive a car and its operating stability by outputting running and road surface states from vertical oscillation acceleration, brake, and car speed signals in three steps and variably controlling damping force in a suspension for the car having damping force in three steps. CONSTITUTION:A vertical oscillation acceleration signal G is input to a logic circuit 7 through a low pass filter 4, a comparator 5, and a delay circuit 6 together with a brake signal B and a car speed signal V. These signals G, B, and V are independently processed by a NOT circuit 8, AND circuits 9 and 10, an XOR circuit 11, and a NOR circuit 12 and road surface and running states are determined and then hard H, normal N, or soft S signal is output according to the eight steps by the respective combination of states. In other words, when the vertical lower oscillation acceleration signal G is low, the N or H signal is output and when it is high, the S or N signal is output. As a result of this structure, the control that lays stress on the comfortability to drive a car or on its operating stability can be selected according to the road surface and running states.
