Spare tools preparation method for a machine tool

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide accommodation of many main tools in a magazine without requiring large dimension by allowing a spare tool accommodation space with restricted capacity to perform smooth feeding of spare tools in correspondence to said many main tools. CONSTITUTION:In a machine tool equipped with function to replace with spare tools, the spare tool ST corresponding to the specified tool T is scanned for by reference to a tool information table TIT when said specified tool is judged to have attained its life, and the position for retaining this tool ST is read out of a tool magazine table TMT, whereafter the tool ST is indexed out onto the tool replacement position PC. When the code M06 to command tool replacement is given by an NC device 19, the tool ST indexed on said position PC is taken out to replace the tool T fitted on the spindle 25. Thus tool replacement according to this arrangement does not require any large-sized magazine.
