Picture input device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a picture having no distortion without revolving a cylindrical object nor an image pick-up device as it is static by feeding a cylindrical curved surface picture and using a coordinate calculating circuit to correct the geometric distortion of said picture. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup device 12 feeds pictures by the control signal of a controller 11. An A/D converter 13 supplies the input data to an input picture memory 14 after A/D conversion. A picture coordinate calculating circuit 15 uses the control signal of the controller 11 to designate the coordinates of an output picture and calculates the memory coordinates of the output picture. Then the density information on the coordinates is extracted from the memory 14 and writes it to an output picture memory 16. This operation is performed with all coordinates of the memory 16. Thus it is possible to obtain a cylindrical developed picture having no distortion.
