Ghost eliminator
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate residual components of vanished ghosts effectively by detecting a tap position whose tap gain at the front stage is the maximum in a two stage transversal filter system. CONSTITUTION:The ghost eliminator is equipped with a transversal filter 8' at the front stage and a transversal filter 8'' at the rear stage. The maximum value detecting circuit 19 reads out a front-stage tap gain from a tap gain memory 15 to detect its maximum value in order. Then a switch 28 is controlled by detection output to close a proper switch and connect a front stage to a rear stage. The rear-stage connecting point is thus determined, the front-stage tap gain is fixed afterward, and the rear-stage tap gain alone is started to be modified. In this way, a ghost signal to modify the rear-stage gain is automatically and appropriately selected, thereby eliminating residual compounds of vanished ghosts in an effective manner.
