Production of fiber reinforced metallic composite material
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reinforce the optional position of a molding with fibers by fixing a fiber assemblage to a part in the cavity of a molding die, pouring a molten base metal into the cavity and pressurizing the molten metal thereby impregnating the molten base metal into the fiber assemblage. CONSTITUTION:A fiber assemblage 8 preheated to 350-600 deg.C is placed on a knockout 5 in the cavity 2 of a molding die 3. A covering body 9 preheated to 400-600 deg.C is then driven into the cavity 2 from above to fix the assemblage 8 to the cavity 2 inside. A vessel 14 contg. a molten base metal 13 is tilted to pour a required amt. of the metal 13 into the cavity 2. A plunger 4 is actuated toward the inner part of the cavity 2 to impregate the metal 13 into the assemblage 9 through the holes provided to the body 9. The plunger 4 is returned upon completion of solidification and the molding is removed by actuating the knockout 5.
