Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To protect a strand from external force by fitting a protecting member for a pipe, a sleeve, a heat contracting tube, etc. covering a sheath removing part on the outer periphery of a plug back part unfixedly to the sheath so as to hold the terminal end part of a tension member exposed by peeling off the sheath between the protecting member. CONSTITUTION:A terminal plug fitting part peels off the sheath 2 and a jacket 3 like a step from the terminal end part of the optical fiber 1. The protecting member 8 is engaged with the outer periphery of the optical fiber and a part of the exposed jacket 3 and the strand 5 are inserted and fixed into a center hole 7a of the plug 7 through adhesives 6. Then the protecting member 8 is pulled to the plug side and its leading end part is fixed to the plug so that the terminal end part of the tension member 4 is held between said leading end part and the outer peripheral surface of the back of the plug 7 coated with adhesives 6'. Thus, the core can be prevented from projection from the end surface of the plug due to temperature change and the strand can be protected from pulling and bending force.
