Optical rotary sensor
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity, by attaching specified filters to a polarizing plate corresponding to the amount of displacement of a body, at a right angle with a polarizing direction, arranging output optical fibers at one surface of the polarizing plate, and arranging light receiving optical fibers on the other surface, so that the fibers face each other. CONSTITUTION:Semi-circular interference filters 8 and 9, whose boundary is a segment passing the center, are fixed to one surface of a polarizing plate 7 at right angles with the polarizing direction. A pair of outputting optical fibers 10 and 10' comprising polarization-plane maintaining fiber is arranged so as to face the other surface. A pair of light receiving optical fibers 11 and 11' comprising the polarization-plane maintaining fiber is arranged to the surface of the plate having the filters 8 and 9. At this time, the plate 7 can be rotated in corespondence with the amount of displacement of a body (not shown). The filter 8 passes only light having a wavelength lambda1, and the filter 9 passes only light having a wavelength lambda2. Thus the same ratio of wavelengths as that of the light transmitting sequence of the wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 is detected, and the rotary angle of the plate 7 can be detected in an analog value.
