Thermoplastic elastomer

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a thermoplastic elastomer having well-balanced properties among tensile strength, elongation, permanent set and hardness and excellent rubber elasticity and resistance to heat and oils, consisting of a specified modifier copolymer and a polyamide polymer. CONSTITUTION:0.001-20pts.wt. graft monomer (e.g. maleic anhydride) selected from unsaturated carboxylic acids (derivatives) is graft-polymerized onto 100pts.wt. copolymer having a number-average MW of 10,000-1,000,000 and composed of 2-60wt% arom. vinyl compd. (e.g. styrene) and 98-40wt% conjugated diene compd. (e.g. 1,3-butadiene) and/or hydrogenated product thereof. 95-5wt% said modified polymer is mixed with 5-95wt% polyamide polymer (e.g. polyhexamethyleneadipamide) having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.1-3 at 150-370 deg.C.
