Production of olefinic polymer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the titled highly crystalline polymer with a remarkably small amount of a formed amorphous polymer in high yield, by using a novel solid catalyst component obtained by treating a titanium trichloride composition by a specific method in combination with an organoaluminum compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:(A) Titanium tetrachloride is reduced with (B) an organoaluminum compound, preferably diethylaluminum chloride, to give a composition, which is then treated with (C) an ether, preferably diisoamyl ether, and (D) an electron acceptor, preferably TiCl4 and further with (E) an alcohol, preferably ethanol, to give a solid catalyst component. An olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst system obtained by combination of the above-mentioned solid catalyst component and the component (B) to afford the aimed polymer. A monomer used in the polymerization is preferably propylene.
