Production of cam shaft
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To manufacture easily a cam shaft having high strength by positioning the recesses formed on the outside circumferential surface of a hollow shaft and the pins embedded into the shaft fitting holes of cam lobes and sintering and uniting the shaft and the cam lobes to one body. CONSTITUTION:Recesses 3 of the same number as the number of cam lobes 2 or journals to be assembled are formed to the prescribed positions on the outside circumferential surface of a hollow shaft 1. On the other hand, pins 4 are embedded via springs 7 into pin-inserting holes 6 formed to the inside circumference of the holes 5 to be fitted to the shaft by machining simultaneously with compaction molding of the lobes 2 or journals consisting of a liquid phase sintering material or after the compaction molding so that the pins 4 can be slightly put into said holes and out thereof. Such lobes 2 or journals are fitted to the shaft 1 and are positioned by engaging said recesses 3 and the pins 4 and thereafter the shaft 1 and the lobes 2 or journals are sintered and united to one body, by which the cam shaft is obtd.
