Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To separate completely a luminance signal and a carrier chrominance signal by providing plural band pass filters having respectively different frequency characteristic and selecting one filter accoding to the state of change in a chrominance signal in the direction of a scanning line. CONSTITUTION:A composite color television signal is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 17 at a sampling frequency having a value being 4 times the subcarrier, fed to a subtractor 2 through a frame memory 1 and a multiplier 3 and applied to band pass filters 6, 7 and a discriminating circuit 8 as a carrier chrominance signal component 14. The discriminating circuit 8 discriminates the change point of a chrominance signal, and when the signal is not at the change point, the band pass filter 6 of a transfer function H1 is selected and when the signal is at the change point, the band pass filter having a transfer function H2 is selected by using a changeover device 9. A carrier chrominance signal output 16 of the changeover device 9 is fed to a subtractor 10 so as to separate a luminance signal 15.
