Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a gap between separators, by piling mup at least two separators, welding them discontinuously on the center line of the overlapped part in order to form a multi-layer separator, and surrounding the circumference of a rod-like electrode. CONSTITUTION:Separators 1 are piled up, and only the upper and lower edges 2 on the center line of the overlapped part are welded and fixed in order to form a multi-layer separator 10. And, the circumference of the rod-like lithium electrode 11 whose width is narrower than that of the separator 10 is surrounded by the separator 10 so that the welded part 2 is parallel with the electrode 11. After the overlapped part 5 is welded and fixed, the excessive lower end part 10' is twisted or bundled and then sealed. After that, a cylindrical organic electrolyte battery is formed by coupling a manganese dioxide positive electrode 13 wirh a battery container 12. Consequently, when winding the separator, formation of the gap thereof can be prevented without wrinkling up the separator and the battery performance can be enhanced.
