Production of fine powder of tin oxide having low electrical resistance
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled fine powder of tin oxide having stable resistance, fine particle size and excellent dispersibility, by neutralizing an aqueous solution of a tetravalent tin salt with an alkali under specific condition, and calcining the resultant tin hydroxide powder under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of an alkali (>=10pH) maintained to >=65 deg.C is mixed with a solution of tin chloride (e.g. an aqueous solution of stannic chloride having a concentration of about 10-60%) to produce a precipitate (precipitation takes place when the pH of the mixture reaches about <=10). The mixture is added with additional tin chloride solution to adjust the final pH of the liquid to 5-1. The produced tin hydroxide powder is washed, dried, and calcined in a reducing atmosphere (or inert atmosphere) at 350-700 deg.C. The electrical resistance of the obtained tin oxide powder (as a compacted powder pressed under 100kg/cm<2>) is about 10<1>-10<5>OMEGAcm.
