Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce a synchronizer of each train of gearing by rotatably mounting a counter-overdrive gear and interposing a synchronizer between the counter- overdrive gear and a countershaft. CONSTITUTION:A counter-overdrive gear 3 is rotatably mounted on a countershaft 1, and synchronizers 26, 27, 24, 25 are disposed between the counter-overdrive gear 3 and a countershaft 1, between a reverse gear 11 and an output shaft 4, between the trailing end of an input shaft 14 and a third-speed gear 21 and between a second-speed gear 22 and a first-speed gear 23, respectively. In this arrangement, during operation of the synchronizers 24, 25, 26, 27, the mass of the counter-overdrive gear 3 is not added to the mass of the countershaft 1 side. Accordingly, the turning force of the countershaft is not increased, so as to reduce the synchronizers 24, 25, 26, 27 of each train of gearing to compact sizes.
