Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a binder which is quick-drying and heat-resistant and has excellent shelf stability, containing a reaction product between an org. silicate and a phosphorus compd. as a base. CONSTITUTION:A homogeneous soln. consisting of an org. silicate of the formula (wherein R is a C1-8 alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aryl, allyl, aralkyl; n>=1), a phosphorus compd. and a solvent capable of dissolving them is prepd. and the solvent is removed. The titled binder contains, as a base, the resulting phosphorus-modified org. silicate which is viscous and thermodynamically stable. Examples of the org. silicate are alkyl silicates such as tetraethyl silicate and alkoxyalkyl silicates such as tetramethyl cellosolve silicate. Examples of the solvents are pref. lower alcohols such as methanol and ethanol.
