Thermo-optical information recording method
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable to record with little noise and with high sensitivity, by a method wherein a recording medium comprising a laminate structure of a low melting point metal containing organic plasma-polymerized film and a metallic film on a base is irradiated with laser light. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium comprising the laminate structure of the low melting point metal containing organic plasma-polymerized film and the metallic film on the base is irradiated with laser light. Information is recorded by inducing deformations in the metallic film by a heat-generating action of laser light. The base 1 can be constituted of a plate of a transparent material such as a plastic (e.g., an acrylic resin) and a glass. The plasma-polymerized film can be obtained by performing glow discharge in an organic gas while simultaneously vapor-depositing a low melting point metal, which may be a metal such as Te, Bi, In, Pb and Sn or an alloy thereof. A vapor-deposited metallic film 3 is preferably produced from a metal having a relatively low thermal conductivity, such as Te, Bi and Bi2Te3. When the recording medium is irradiated with laser light, the laser light is absorbed by the plasma-polymerized film 2 to be converted into heat, and the film 2 liberates a gas to deform the metallic film 3, thereby recording is performed.
