Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled paint useful for the coating of the underwater- part of ships and marine constructions, free from toxicity and exhibiting the antifouling effect for a long period without addition of an antifouling agent, by compounding a film-forming silicone resin vehicle with an active amount of a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The objective paint can be produced by compounding a film- forming silicone resin vehicle (e.g. cold-curing silicone rubber, modified silicone varnish, etc.) with an active amount of a surfactant. An excellent antifouling effect can be achieved especially by the use of an amphoteric surfactant. The amount of the surfactant is preferably 1-20wt% based on the whole solid content of the paint. The vehicle may contain silicone oil, vaseline, paraffin, oil or fat, etc. to improve the water-repellency of the coating film.
