Operation of thermal transfer type printer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent wrinkling of a transfer ribbon or the like from occurring at the time of printing with the result of poor transfer, by providing a brake gear for a rotary shaft of a ribbon feed-out roller. CONSTITUTION:Immediately before a thermal head 1 supplied with a printing command starts printing, the ribbon letting-out roller 8 is braked by the brake gear 9 fitted to the roller 8, and in this condition, an electric current is passed to a take-up motor 7 fitted to a ribbon take-up roller 6 to apply a tension to a ribbon 2, thereby removing a sag of the ribbon 2. Thereafter, printing is conducted by pressing the head 1 against a platen roller 4. Accordingly, since transferring is not conducted under the condition where the ribbon 2 is distorted or wrinkled, defective transfer can be prevented from occurring.
