Preparation of l-threonine

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To isolate L-threonine, by treating a mixture of threonine isomers with D-threonine aldolase alone or D-threonine aldolase and L-allosthreonine aldolase. CONSTITUTION:For example, the reactor 1 is packed with immobilized-threonine aldolase, and a DL-threonine-containing substrate solution is put in the vacuum distillation flask 2. The substrate solution in the distillation flask 2 is sent the top of the reactor 1 by the pump 5, and the substrate solution flowing from the bottom is fed to the reboiler 3. The substrate solution heated and evaporated by the reboiler 3 is converted into steam containing acetaldehyde, sent from the fractionating column 4 to the condenser 8, condensed, trapped in the receiver 9. While the reaction solution from which acetaldehyde is removed is dropped in the flask 2, and refed to the reactor 1. The circulation reactions are repeated, to accumulate L-threonine.
