Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To execute encoding with high efficiency, and to transmit a code at a high speed by dividing each differential chain into plural groups, and assigning each different Huffman code to every group corresponding to the group of the differential chain immediately before each differential chain. CONSTITUTION:A ccordinate position of a pen and an up/down state of the pen are detected by the coordinate detecting part 1 of a handwritten graphic transmitting device, and a coordinate signal and an up/down signal are sampled by an A/D converter 2. Also, an eight direction Freeman chain is detected by a chain detecting part 3, and a difference of an eight direction chain train is calculated by a differential chain calculating part 4. This differential value is divided into plural groups by a differential chain classifying part 11 of a differential chain encoding means 20 in accordance with its value, and added to a differential chain classifying and encoding part 12. Subsequently, in the encoding part 12, by a result of classification of the classifying part 11, each differential chain is encoded by assigning a Huffman code prepared separately at every group to which its immediately previous differential chain belongs, and supplied to a communication control part 6.
