Satin finishing method of roll-shaped work
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform satin surface on a roll-shaped work by irradiating an impulsive laser beam on said work in a heat volatile liquid and blowing off the molten metal from the work surface by the high temp. in the worked part. CONSTITUTION:A working cell 12 is positioned above a rotatable roll 3 which is a work and a working fluid 13 which is a heat volatile liquid is stored therein. The laser beam from an impulsive laser beam generator 11 is irradiated on the surface of the roll 3. Part of the roll 3 surface is melted and at the same time the molten part is blown off by the vapor explosion of the fluid 13 contacting with the high temp. part. Such operation is repeated and the roll 3 is rotated, by which the entire surface of the roll 3 is finished to a satin surface.
