Profile compensating device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a natural picture applied with profile compensation by providing the 2nd delay circuit and the 2nd multiplication circuit so as to operate an input video signal and an output of two multiplication circuits. CONSTITUTION:An input video signal SI is fed to a delay circuit 1 and a multiplier circuit 2, the signal is outputted while being delayed by a time alpha at the delay circuit 1 and an output of a multiplication coefficient generating circuit 3, e.g., a value multiplied by 1/3, is outputted from the multiplication circuit 2. After the output of the delay circuit 1 is delayed again by a time alpha at the 2nd delay circuit 5, 1/3 is multiplied with the 2nd multiplication circuit 6,and the result is fed to a subtractor circuit 4. Outputs of the two multiplication circuits 2, 6 are subtracted from the output of the delay circuit 1 at the subtraction circuit 4 and the result of subtraction is ouputted. Thus, the picture subject to profile compensation where the contrast change is emphasized and the result is seen as if any trimming were applied is obtained in this way.
