Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To decide unconditionally the optimum drive inverting position by reading out the address recorded in a going reproduction mode in both going and coming-back modes and then comparing the going mode address with the coming-back mode address to decide the drive inverting position. CONSTITUTION:The reproduction signals given from the going and coming-back reproduction heads 21A and 21B are sent to terminals (a) and (b) to be selected of a changeover switch 26 via address separating circuits 23A and 23B. At the same time, an address comparator circuit 27 compares the going mode address with the coming-back mode address. Then the optimum inverting position detecting signal is sent to a system control circuit 38 in case the going mode address is equal to or larger than the coming-back mode address. Thus the circuit 38 controls an action to invert the tape drive and changes the switch 26 to the terminal (b) from the terminal (a) in the going mode. Therefore the reproduction signal given from the head 21B extracted from an output terminal 25 via a decoder 24.
