Optical fiber unit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce optical coupling between adjacent fibers by using a resin which contains dye or pigment, or high light absorption fiber as a resin for coating a wire element or a resin for coating a unit, or resin for coating the both. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1a-1e, element wire coatings 4a-4e, a unit coating 5, element wire coatings 10a-10e, and a unit coating 11 are provided, and the optical fibers 1a-1e are made of quartz glass. The coatings 4a-4e, 10a- 10e, and 11 are all made of ultraviolet-ray curing acrylate resin, the coatings 10a-10e and 11 contain dye, and element wire coatings 10a-10e have high loss characteristics, so light emitted from the optical fibers 1a-1e owing to bending is attenuated greatly. Further, the unit coating 11 has high loss characteristics, so light emitted from one optical fiber attenuates greatly before reaching another optical fiber, thereby reducing optical coupling between optical fibers.
