Vacuum lamination method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To form a decorative sheet with fidelity along a master of the intended product, by placing the decorative sheet on a base plate, forming upper and lower airtight chambers over and below the decorative sheet, evacuating the airtight chambers, and then maintaining the upper airtight chamber at a high pressure. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic decorative sheet 5 is placed on a base plate 4 on a placing table 3, boxlike pressing member 14 and a support member 10 are put together with the placing table 3 between them, and the periphery of the decorative sheet 5 or a back-up resilient sheet 26 at the back of the sheet 5 is pinched between them with the placing table 3 interposed so that a pair of airtight chambers 2 are formed that are separate by the decorative sheet 5. Then the decorative sheet 5 is heated to be softened, the upper and lower airtight chambers are evacuated simultaneously, and after this state is kept, air pumped into the upper airtight chamber so that the pressure therein is kept higher than the normal pressures thereby bringing the sheet in firm contact with the base plate positively.
