Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To widen the rotation region for performing good layer combustion, by arranging an ignition plug such that the spark discharge gap is positioned while separated by specific distance from an imaginary plane containing main fuel jet injected through a fuel jet nozzle. CONSTITUTION:When applying in a sub-chamber type internal-combustion engine, a fuel injection nozzle 14 is mounted while inclining in same direction with a communication hole 12 on a nozzle fixing hole 13 formed in the cylinder head 1 to open toward the ceiling section of vortex chamber 7 communicating through a communication hole 12 with the combustion chamber. Then liquid fuel is injected through a fuel injection port 15 at the tip of said nozzle 14 in the direction to traverse the suction spiral flow (S) produced in the vortex chamber 7. Similarly, an ignition plug 18 is mounted on the plug fixing hole 17 formed in the cylinder head 1, where the spark discharge gap 21 is positioned while separating by predetermined amount (E) from an imaginary plane (P) containing main fuel jet flow (A) and extending in such direction as main jet flow will change the direction in accordance to the variation of the strength of suction spiral flow (S).
