Valve operating device with pause function

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make the construction light by supporting a pair of locker arms to operate two suction (exhaust) valves by a common shaft, and by allowing a piston fitted on either of the locker arms to be fited in and removed out of a recess formed in the other locker arm. CONSTITUTION:A pair of suction (exhaust) valves 4 to open and close a pair of suction (exhaust) ports 3 provided at each cylinder are opened and closed through locker arms 9, 15 in compliance with the rotation of cam shaft 6, and these locker arms 9, 15 are supported by a common locker arm shaft 7 with their one ends swingingly. The locker arm 9 is equipped at the upper part of its intermediate portion with a seat surface 11 to be in slide contact with a cam 6a on cam shaft 6 and with a recess 12 in which a guide pin 13 energized by a compression spring 14 is to be fitted. A cylinder 17 in which a piston 19 is fitted slidably is formed at the place of locker arm 15 mating with said recess 12, and the piston 19 is pushed out by oil pressure for fitting in the recess 12. Thus the two 9, 15 are consolidated.
