Signal converter

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain a return test without adding other equipment by providing a signal converter at a station together with an electric communication device and sharing a cable set with another electric communication station for both transmission and reception. CONSTITUTION:When an electric communication devlce 21 performs transmission, it delivers a mode switch signal 25. This signal is applied to an electrooptic converter 4 and a pulse transformer 23 by selectors 24a and 24b. However the output signal of a photoelectric converter 5 is not applied to the converter 4 nor the transformer 23 by the control of circuits. The signal transmitted and applied to the converter 4 is converted into an optical signal and fed to an optical distributor 6 to be distributed to an optical comunication station and another signal converter. While the signal transmitted from the device 21 and applied to the transformer 23 is sent to another electric communication station via coils 23-2 and 23-1 and then returned to the device 21 via coils 23-2 and 23-3. Thus the return tests can be simultaneously carried out without adding other devices.
