Preparation of fine powder of zirconium oxide
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prepare easily ZrO2 having improved dispersibility free from fluocculation, by blending an aqueous solution of Zr salt with a Mg salt, suspending fine powder of ZrO2, adding an aqueous solution of NH3 to the suspension to precipitate a solid material, heat-treating it at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of water-soluble Zr salt or a solution of slightly soluble Zr salt is blended with one of more selected from a Mg salt, Ca salt, and Y salt. 2-70wt% fine powder of ZrO2 having <=1.0mu average particle diameter based on finally obtained fine powder of ZrO2 is suspended in the mixed solution. One or more aqueous solution selected from an aqueous solution of NH3, an aqueous solution of NH3 of (NH4)2CO3, and an aqueous solution of NH3 of NH4HCO3 is added to the suspension, the suspension is adjusted to 6- 13pH, to precipitate a solid material. The solid material is separated from the mother liquor, washed, dried, the dried material is crushed, or it is heat-treated directly at 500-1,200 deg.C in air or reduced pressure, to give fine powder of ZrO2.
