Optical transmission system

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain ease of supply of power to a repeater or a terminal device installed at the seabed by supplying the energy of a solar cell through an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Two optical fibers 3, 4 for optical signal transmission and for charging a sollar cell and transmitting light are used. Circuits in a repeater or a terminal device 1 are activated by using a solar cell 2 charged through the optical fiber 4 for charging solar cell and transmitting light as a power supply. The solar cell 2 is used as the power supply for the repeater or the terminal device 1 in the optical transmission system and the solar cell 2 is charged through the optical fiber 4 in this way, then the degree of freedom is increased for the installing location of the repeater or the terminal device 1 and the advantage of ease of supply power is attained.
