Gas-cooled type fuel cell
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce flow resistance so as to obtain a highly efficient fuel cell by forming the passages of reactant gases in L shape. CONSTITUTION:Fuel passages 14 and oxidizing agent passages 15 are formed on the frontal and back surfaces of a rectangular gas separating plate 12 respectively. These passages are L-shaped having one opening on the shorter side of the rectangle and the other opening on the half of the longer side of the rectangle. Cooling-gas passages 16 of a cooling plate 13 have one opening on the half of one longer side of the rectangular plate and the other opening on the half of the other longer side of the rectangle. It is arranged so that the openings on the half of one side will not be directly opposite to the openings on the half of the other side. When these gas separating plate 12 and cooling plate 13 are assembled in a cell stack 10, the opposing shorter sides form flow surfaces A and B to which the fuel passages 14 and the oxidizing passages 15 are opened respectively. On the other hand, the opposing longer sides are divided into two halves. The half which is not adjacent to the surface A forms a fuel flow surface A', whereas another half which is not adjacent to the surface B forms an oxidizing agent flow surface B'. The rest of non-opposing halves form flow surfaces C, C' to which the cooling gas passages are opened.
