Treatment of cyanic waste liquid containing iron
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To treat waste liquid efficiently by adding more than equivalent weight of copper ions necessary to convert cyano complexes and ferrocyano complexes whose stability constants are smaller than the ones of free cyanogens contained in the original waste liquid to copper cyanide complexes. CONSTITUTION:After more than equivalent weight of copper ions necessary to convert cyano complexes and ferrocyano complexes whose stability constants are smaller than the ones of free cyanogens and ferrocyano complexes contained in the original waste liquid to cyano-copper-complexes are added, an oxidation- decomposition treatment is carry out to regulate the cyan concentration to <=1mg/l after the treatment even if iron ions are also contained. As the most of iron ions in the cyanic waste liquid are in the ferrous state, it is difficult to separate and to analyze ferrous and ferric ions in case of the practical operation, so the amount of copper ions to be added is decided so as to be the equivalent weight to the toal iron ions.
