Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide ease with which opening and closing speed of a glove box is regulated by pivotally mounting a flywheel which is turned by opening and closing action of the glove box, to an instrument panel and fitting a moment of inertia regulating ring on the perimeter of the flywheel. CONSTITUTION:A glove box 4 is fit in the recess 3 of an instrument panel body 2 and the opening and closing speed of the box 4 is regulated by a control mechanism 7b. The control mechanism 7b has a transmitting means which consists of a flywheel 8 which is pivotally mounted to the body 2 as turnable therearound, a sector gear 10d which converts the opening and closing motion of the box 4 into a turning motion of the flywheel 8 and is fixed to the side wall of the box 4, and a gear 9 which meshes with the gear 10d and is firmly fit around the shaft 8a of the flywheel 8. A moment of inertia regulating ring 14 having a specified weight and dimensions is engaged with the peripheral groove 8b of the flywheel 8.
