Idle channel assigning system in mobile communication

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain effective use of a limited channel of a mobile communication exchange network by assigning one of a common channels from a control station when the number of idle channel reaches 0 in each base station where a fixed channel is given. CONSTITUTION:A control station 2 calculates the number of idle channels from a difference between the number of channels being used and the number of channels to be used of each radio base station and if no idle channel exists, it is regarded that the radio base station uses all fixed channels, an allocated common channel number is transmitted and allocates one of common channels. For example, two channels are used in the radio zone, since no idle channel exists, one of the common channels is assigned. If >=1 of idle channel exists, the information inhibiting the use of the common channels is transmitted. Since the common channel is assigned in response to the operating state, the effective use and the improvement of service are attained.
