Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To firmly and surely fix an insert member such as an exhaust port liner in an insert member fixing structure, by providing porous flame-sprayed layers consisting of soft metals and heat-resistive synthetic resins on an inside surface of a cavity portion and an outside surface of the insert member. CONSTITUTION:For instance, in an exhaust port 2, there is fixedly inserted an exhaust port liner 10 of stainless steel pipe having a flange portion 10a to be engaged in a recess 2b of the exhaust port 2. Under the condition, there is provided a flame-sprayed layer 11 having a thickness of about 300-500mu on an inside surface of the exhaust port 2 and/or an outside surface of the exhaust port liner 10. The flame-sprayed layer 11 consists of heat-resistive synthetic resin particles 11b containing soft metal particles 11a such as aluminum, wherein pores 11c having about 40-50% of porosity are included. The flame-sprayed layer serves to absorb error in manufacturing and thermal deformation, and to firmly fix the insert member. Thus, combustion gas in an associated member, for example, an auxiliary combustion chamber, may be maintained at high temperature because of air shielding property and heat insulating property of the flame- sprayed layer, thereby also improving engine performance.
