Fixative for perfume
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:An odorless fixative, consisting of a polyether compound obtained by the addition polymerization of a specific amount of an alkylene oxide to a specific polyhydric alcohol, having improved fixing properties of perfumes, soluble easily in a system of perfumes or eau de Cologne without solidifying nor depositing at low temperatures. CONSTITUTION:A fixative for perfumes prepared by the addition polymerization of 2-80mol propylene oxide and 0-50mol ethylene oxide to a polyhydric alcohol selected from glycerol, pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol, trimethylolethane and trimethylolpropane. The addition product of sole propylene oxide assumes the liquid state even at low temperatures and is good for the fixative. However, the viscosity is increased when the number of added moles thereof exceeds 80, and the addition product is easily solidified at low temperatures with increasing number of mole of added ethylene oxide. The above-mentioned fixative in an amount of 1-50wt%, preferably 5-30wt%, is incorporated in a perfume composition or aromatic product.
