Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent securely high speed retreat in a vehicle provided with a main transmission and a subtransmission having backward transmission system by enabling the subtransmission to be changed over to the backward side by a stopper mechanism only in the neutral position and low speed change of the main transmission. CONSTITUTION:A transmission preferably used for a motor tricycle travelling on irregular ground is constituted from a main transmission 3 capable of operating plural stage forward speed change and a lever operated subtransmission 4 provided with respective transmission systems of high, low speed and backward one. In this case, a stopper mechanism 17 is provided which is constituted from a cam 18 pivotally interlocked with main speed change operation of the main transmission 3 and a stopper lever 19 having both ends 19a, 19b adjacent the respective peripheral surfaces of the cam 18 and a shift drum 15 of the subtransmission 4. And when the main transmission 3 is in the speed change stage of at least 2 speed, the lever end 19a bears against the larger diameter portion 18b of the cam 18 and the other end 19b advances inside the pivotal track of a projection 20 of the drum 15 to block the pivoting of the drum 15 to the backward position.
